The Washington Apple. Crys’s favorite cocktail (I love it too). It tastes so great and it really does taste like biting into a crisp apple. The biggest downside to this drink, like my Old Fashioned, it’s impossible to get it right from a bar. Most places try to make you the shot, or they’re missing one of the ingredients, or you have to tell them how to make it. Well, hopefully, this will help. At very least it’ll have you guys making some amazing cocktails at home. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker or general bar tools, check here for a set that fits your needs or style.
One great thing about the Washington Apple is it’s so versatile. I’m going to start here with the shot. It comes together by shaking equal parts of Crown Royal Deluxe (traditional Crown), De Kuyper Sour Apple Pucker, and Cranberry Juice (of your choice).
Strain your shaker into a shot glass, and enjoy. Just be careful, these things go down smooth, it’s easy to lose count.
Up next, I’ll cover the traditional recipe for the Washington Apple Cocktail. It’s identical to the shot…just more. This is usually the version that we find when out at the bar. Mix your three ingredients into a shaker and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. I like to Garnish both cocktails with a lime wedge. The added citrus is a nice touch. If you wanted a sweeter Garnish, an apple slice makes for a good looking addition.
The final version of the Washington Apple is hands down the best…because it ours. This one mixes up the norm a bit. We take Crown Royal Regal Apple and mix it with our preferred apple and cranberry juices. This version makes for the crispest bite of apple you can get. We played with the mix to try to get it just right, but I think what we included below is the best result. As you’ll see in the directions and in the tips, we found that on this version if you shake the concoction too much, it really waters down the flavor. Similar to the last version, I like to Garnish with a lime wedge, but an apple slice would work great too.
