Grapefruit Margarita

Grapefruit Margarita

The last cocktails I brought you were the Orange Shandy and the Grapefruit Shandy. In the spirit of trying new things and because I had a surplus of grapefruit, I wanted to bring you a Grapefruit Margarita. One of the first cocktails we featured was the Classic Margarita. Since then I’ve just been itching to try making tasty variations that I keep seeing all over Pinterest.

The build I chose for this drink is very similar to the classic margarita, substituting grapefruit juice for the lime juice. Before you build the drink it helps to prep your glass. Take your cocktail glass and run a piece of your citrus around the rim. Dip the glass rim in some salt and your glass is ready to go.

For the tequila, I stuck with my favorite, Reposado Tequila. For a mid-range price I’ve been pretty happy with Cazadores Reposado, it has a great flavor and it goes down smooth. So to build your margarita take your tequila, triple sec, grapefruit juice, and agave nectar and add it to your cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain that mixture into your prepped glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a piece of grapefruit and it’s ready to go.

I’ve been trying to talk Crys into buying a big bad blender for those rare occasions that I’m craving a blended margarita, so if that works out keep an eye out for some more blended margarita recipes.

And thank you for pointing out that issue with the comment box. There was a bad line of HTML throwing the whole thing off!
