This week was Back to School for our little one. Not only is Summer Vacation over, but she’s moving to a school closer to our new house. Understandably, she was not happy to go Back to School and make all new friends. If you’ve read our bio or past blogs, you know that our Little One is my Bonus Daughter, and I treat her as such. Part of that is that I make her lunches for school (on our days) and I try to make them special for her. This blog post is just to share some special little things I did for her, in hopes of inspiring others!
I know, this isn’t the most amazing ever, but our LIttle One loves these lunches so much.
Our Little One likes her quesadillas plaaaaaaaaaain. So, I took 2 soft taco-size tortillas and sandwiched some shredded cheese between them. Covered with moist paper towels and microwaved for 45 seconds. Little kitchen tip from me to you – cut with a pizza cutter, not a knife. I used some FooDoodler Food Coloring Markers to draw the little designs on the tortilla. I bought the FooDoodler Food Coloring Markers on Amazon, and I love them. We are not affiliated with Amazon or FooDoodlers.
For her fruit, I dipped some fresh strawberries into a small bowl of water and sugar. Then I dipped them into a bowl of sugar crystals and nonpareils. They went straight into the fridge in hopes to set the sugar water and help keep the sprinkles from falling off. Of course, I left a little note to have a “Berry Good Week”.
In hopes to encourage a new friendship, I made her some S’mores. “One for her, and S’more for a friend”. Smores are pretty simple, You just sandwich a marshmallow and a chunk of a Hershey’s Bar between 2 graham crackers. Then bake for 5 minutes at 350.
Then to round it out, she got a couple pickles and a peach fruit cup- complete with silly cartoons drawn on. Chips and salsa and a Caprisun drink for the last touches. I hope you enjoy making this silly lunch for your own Little Ones, as much as I enjoyed it. Please tag us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram so we can see your wonderful version of this!
