I’ve shared some of my favorite cocktails with you before, like the Canadian Old Fashioned and the Washington Apple. Now I’d like to bring you a new one on the favorite list, the Apple Cider Moscow Mule. Sometimes you just get in that mood where you need something new, ya know?
I was introduced to Moscow Mules a little more than a year ago. At the time I didn’t really enjoy them, I just couldn’t get over the ginger taste. I’ve had a few more since then, we even infused some vodka with Jalapeno to make a Jalapeno Moscow Mule last year. This recipe is quite different though. In this Apple Cider Moscow Mule, I wanted to bring something a little more festive to the table for the upcoming holidays. It helped that Crys and I just spent a day at Apple Hill, a regional collection of apple growers. Along with fresh apples, we had to buy some fresh apple cider. I was inspired after that trip to make these Apple Cider Moscow Mules.
Now the basic Moscow Mule has a pretty simple construction. I hope to bring you a post in the near future that details the construction of the original, but for now we’re going to skip to the more complex. It’s unanimously agreed that a copper mug is a must. The copper mug not only helps rapidly chill the drink, some people believe that the copper in the mug brings out flavors and aromas in the vodka and the ginger beer, really completing the drink.
As I said this comes together pretty easily. To start you fill your copper mug with ice. Add your favorite vodka. My preference is Tahoe Blue Vodka (not an affiliate link), it’s made with water from nearby Lake Tahoe, distilled in Mountain View, CA and bottled locally in Sparks, NV. Once you have your vodka add your Apple Cider. Just like vodka the higher the quality apple cider, the higher the quality of your final product. Add your Ginger Beer, I prefer Cock ‘N Bull for its flavor and quality and stir generously to mix.
Garnish with some fresh apple slices and enjoy. Let us know what your favorite variations of the Moscow Mule are in the comments below. Don’t forget to follow our socials and pin this post to your favorite cocktail board.

I am going to get copper mugs so I can enjoy this recipe. I love the looks of this drink and I can only imagine how lovely this will blend with apples. Some how cider drinks are always more appreciated by me in the fall.
I also have not been able to get into the Moscow mule. I’m not a huge fan of ginger (or vodka). But this apple cider Moscow mule sounds like something I need to try!
